AB 5000 Zero Gap

The original AB-3000 was REP’s breakout value FID bench — an 11-gauge, 1,000-lb-rated flat/incline/decline bench that undercut boutique benches for years and racked up thousands of reviews. The one knock was a larger gap between the head and seat pads, which REP later closed.
If you’re buying new, get the current AB-3000 2.0, which keeps the same frame and rating but tightens the pad gap and improves adjustment. On a tighter budget the AB-3100 is the lighter option, and Rogue’s Adjustable Bench 3.0 is the flat/incline step-up.

An adjustable bench tilts from flat to incline (and often decline) so one bench covers flat press, incline press, shoulder work, and rows. It’s usually the second thing people buy after a rack and bar — and the piece you press heavy over, so build quality matters.
Anyone doing barbell or dumbbell pressing at home. A flat bench is enough if you only bench flat; otherwise an adjustable bench is the more versatile buy. Most home lifters are well served in the $400-$600 range.

The original AB-3000 built REP’s reputation as the value king of adjustable benches — an 11-gauge, 1,000-lb-rated FID frame with 21 seat/back combinations, including a rare decline setting at this price, that owners still vouch for after three-plus years of use. Build quality and durability hold up well long term: a three-year owner reports the structure “still intact… no concerns moving forward” with no pad deterioration, just cosmetic seat-trim wear on high-mileage units. The weak points are functionality details — a cumbersome pull-pin seat adjustment and, per one long-term video review, noticeable wobble at steeper incline angles — and versatility, since it has no attachment ecosystem and can’t be stored vertically like REP’s pricier AB-5000 line. Note REP has since replaced this 1.0 version with the AB-3000 2.0, which addresses the base stability and adds rubber floor covers.
