The CERBERUS Sandstone Sandbag is a round, Atlas Stone-shaped sandbag built to mimic stone-lifting training without the cost, mess, or floor damage of a real stone. It’s made from dual-ply 1050D CORDURA nylon ballistic fabric with a YKK zipper and a double hook-and-pile (Velcro) fill closure for a leak-free seal, and ships unfilled – fill it with coarse builder’s sand for accurate weight. It’s sold in seven individual sizes from 20kg (44lb) up to 140kg (309lb), plus light (20-80kg), heavy (100-140kg), and full (all seven) multi-packs. Independent coverage – both a dedicated YouTube review and six GymRadar owner reviews – converges on the same take: it’s a genuinely harder, rounder training stimulus that gets closer to real stonework than a traditional sandbag, best suited to experienced strongman athletes rather than beginners, and explicitly not a substitute for an actual Atlas Stone.

What is a Sandbag?

What a training sandbag is

A sandbag is a filled, multi-handle bag for odd-object strength and conditioning — cleans, carries, over-shoulder throws, and loaded squats. The shifting fill forces stabilizers to work in a way fixed implements don’t, and the soft load is forgiving to drop. Durability lives in the outer shell (1000D Cordura is the standard) and the handle count/placement; most bags use inner filler bags so one shell covers a range of weights.

The CERBERUS Sandstone Sandbag is a purpose-built stand-in for Atlas Stone training, and both GymRadar’s owner reviews and independent YouTube coverage land on the same verdict: it feels meaningfully harder and rounder to manage than a traditional sandbag, but it is not a substitute for a real stone. Functionality is the standout dimension — every source agrees it’s the closest a sandbag gets to stonework, valuable for experienced strongman athletes without access to real stones or a floor that can take one being dropped. Value is the weakest spot: GymRadar’s own value sub-score is its lowest (3.83/5), several owners note it’s hard to justify alongside a normal sandbag collection, and one reviewer reports it deforms quickly with regular use.

  • +Functionality: closest a sandbag gets to genuine Atlas Stone training feel, per both the manufacturer's stone-shaped design and 6 independent GymRadar owner reviews
  • +Functionality: makes every standard sandbag exercise noticeably harder, a useful progression for experienced sandbag trainees (YouTube: Brian Alsruhe)
  • +Build quality: dual-ply 1050D CORDURA ballistic nylon with a YKK zipper and double-Velcro fill closure, keeping sand fully contained (manufacturer spec, corroborated by GymRadar reviews)
  • Value: GymRadar's lowest sub-score (3.83/5) — multiple owners say it's hard to justify owning alongside a regular sandbag at a comparable price
  • Durability: one GymRadar owner reports the bag deforms quickly with regular use
  • Versatility: not recommended for sandbag beginners — the round profile catches on the slippery fill-hole flap during higher-rep work (YouTube: Brian Alsruhe)
  • Functionality: does not actually feel like a real stone — every source, including the manufacturer's own reviewers, describes it as 'closer' rather than equivalent
