elitefts Shoulder Saver™ Pad Black

Buy Now · $29.95

The elitefts Shoulder Saver Pad (Black) is a high-density, half-cylinder foam block that clamps onto a barbell’s knurling and shortens the bench press’s range of motion, working like a self-spotted 2-board press without needing a partner to hold boards. Its rounded bottom grips the bar tightly to resist rotation, and the curved shape makes it harder to “heave” or bounce the weight back up compared to a flat board. Lifters use it both to protect an injured shoulder, pec, or elbow by training in a pain-free range while easing back into full range of motion, and to safely overload lockout strength with weight well above their true one-rep max. It works across bench press grip widths, incline press, overhead press, and JM press, but is not intended for squats. A smaller Red version of the pad is sold separately as roughly a 1.5-board equivalent, versus this Black pad’s larger, closer-to-2-board range-of- motion reduction.

What is a Miscellaneou?

What’s in Miscellaneous

This is the catch-all for the conditioning tools and accessories that don’t fit a single equipment class — weighted vests and plate carriers, medicine and slam balls, plyo boxes, ab mats, and the odds and ends that round out a garage gym. Items land here because their job (loaded carries, jumps, core work) cuts across the categories rather than sitting neatly inside one.

Who it’s for

Anyone filling in the gaps around the big pieces. If you already have a rack, bar, and plates, this is where you find the vest for rucking and weighted push-ups, the ball for slams and wall throws, or the box for step-ups and box jumps. Match the tool to the training you actually do — a plate carrier for conditioning and rucking, plyo boxes for explosive work — rather than buying the whole shelf.

The elitefts Shoulder Saver Pad is a half-cylinder foam block that clamps onto a barbell to shorten the bench press’s range of motion, functioning like a self-spotted 2-board press. Functionality is the standout: lifters on Reddit repeatedly call it “superior to boards” for solo training because its rounded bottom removes the guesswork of aligning a flat board and discourages “heaving” the weight back up. Versatility is the weakest dimension – it’s a fixed-height pad with no adjustability, so a lifter who needs a different range-of-motion cut has to buy another size rather than swap a board on the fly, and it’s built for pressing movements only (bench, incline, OHP, JM press), not squats.

  • +Functionality: rounded half-cylinder shape removes the guesswork of aligning a flat board and discourages bouncing/"heaving" the weight, described by multiple lifters as "superior to boards" or "a game changer" for training alone (r/powerlifting community)
  • +Value: at $29.95, cited as a cheap, one-time alternative to needing a training partner to hold boards on the fly (r/powerlifting community; elitefts.com)
  • +Versatility: used successfully across close/wide-grip bench, incline press, overhead press, JM press, and floor-press lockout work (r/StartingStrength, r/weightroom community; elitefts.com)
  • +Durability: high-density material described as resistant to compression under heavy loads; one long-term user reported 18 months of regular rehab use with no issues (r/bodybuilding community; elitefts.com blog)
  • +Functionality: also used for shoulder/tendon rehab, letting injured lifters keep pressing in a pain-free range while easing back into full range of motion (r/bodybuilding, r/formcheck community; elitefts.com blog)
  • Versatility: fixed height with no adjustability -- unlike stackable boards, a training partner can't swap it mid-session for a different range-of-motion cut (r/powerlifting community)
  • Build quality: no independent editorial review of this exact Black pad turned up; the one third-party review page found (Garage Gym Reviews) covers the smaller Red variant instead, so build-quality claims lean on manufacturer copy and user reports rather than a formal review
  • Durability: beyond one anecdotal 18-month user report, there's no independent long-term or stress-test coverage of how the pad holds up over time (r/bodybuilding community)
  • Functionality: only reduces range of motion for pressing movements (bench, incline, OHP) -- not usable for squats or other movement patterns (elitefts.com)
