Kabuki Kyübells
The Kyübell is Kabuki Strength’s “smarter dumbbell” — a three-handled hybrid of a dumbbell, kettlebell, and fatbell developed with Havak. Long-lever, center-mass, and rack grips (in three grip widths) let you shift the load’s position mid-exercise, changing the force curve and letting the same implement target different heads of a muscle without swapping weights — Kabuki co-founder Chris Duffin has demonstrated it for side-delt raises, curls, and skullcrushers, and Men’s Health has highlighted it for smooth drop-set transitions. It sold as a 10–50 lb set in 10 lb increments. The Kyübell has been discontinued and is no longer sold new — Kabuki’s site now points buyers to its other dumbbell offerings, and r/homegym threads describe steep price increases in the run-up to its discontinuation.

What is a Fixed Dumbbell?
What fixed dumbbells are
Fixed dumbbells are single-weight hand weights — grab and go, no adjusting. The hex shape (flat sides) keeps them from rolling and makes them stable for push-ups and renegade rows; round heads sit in racks more neatly. What lasts: a comfortable knurled steel handle, a durable rubber or urethane head coating (urethane wears best and smells less), and a tight weight tolerance. Most home gyms buy a range and a rack rather than adjustables if budget and space allow.

The Kyübell is a three-handled “smarter dumbbell” — long-lever, center-mass, and rack grips let you shift load and force curve mid-set instead of swapping implements, and both independent editorial coverage (Men’s Health, via Yahoo Lifestyle) and years of r/homegym threads back up its Functionality and Versatility for isolation and drop-set work, praising it as a genuine dumbbell/kettlebell hybrid. Value is the clear weak point: owners consistently describe steep, repeated price hikes before Kabuki discontinued the line entirely, and it is no longer available new from the manufacturer.
- +Functionality: three grip configurations (long lever, center mass, rack) let you change force curve and target different muscle heads mid-exercise (Men's Health via Yahoo Lifestyle)
- +Versatility: works as a dumbbell/kettlebell/fatbell hybrid and streamlines drop sets without racking and unracking weight (Men's Health via Yahoo Lifestyle; r/homegym)
- +Functionality: owners report the three grip sizes and positions work well for isolation exercises, closely resembling Rogue center-bells in the center-mass grip (r/homegym)
- +Build quality: no durability or defect complaints surfaced across years of Reddit discussion — criticism is entirely about pricing and availability, not the product itself
- −Value: price rose sharply over time — one buyer reported the full set going up nearly $800 before Kabuki pulled 10-lb increment options (r/homegym Black Friday threads)
- −Value: discontinued and no longer sold new by the manufacturer; secondhand availability only (r/homegym; product listing)
- −Functionality: the load-vs-weight concept and multiple grip options can be confusing for beginners unfamiliar with advanced training concepts (Men's Health via Yahoo Lifestyle)
- −Durability: no long-term wear data surfaced in independent coverage
