Slater "Trainer" True Log

The "Trainer" Log is a historically-inspired, stripped down version of our standard "True Logs". We have designed these with the intention of providing a high-quality wooden log that has the same feel as our standard "True Logs", is easy to maintain, and comes in at a price point similar to a quality metal log. If you have been wanting a Slater Log but are afraid others might not take care of it as well you, this is your solution. We purposefully do a light, basic sanding that holds chalk well and prevents any major splintering. We omit stain and clear coat, which allows scratches, gouges, etc. to be left alone or easily sanded out with no refinishing required. Without rope, the logs have a lighter opening weight, but the sleeve-ends allow over 300lbs to be added using standard 25lb plates.

What is a Strongman?

Strongman equipment trains raw, functional strength through odd-object lifting, carrying, and loading — atlas stones, yokes, farmer’s handles, sleds, logs, and tires — rather than the fixed, balanced resistance of a barbell. It’s a fit for lifters who’ve plateaued on conventional strength training and want to build the grip, bracing, and full-body coordination that competition strongman and functional fitness demand, or who simply want the most direct training carryover to real-world lifting and carrying tasks. Most pieces are bulky and some (tires, natural stones) are sourced or repurposed rather than bought outright, so plan for storage space and, in a few cases, DIY sourcing as part of owning this equipment.
