Buy NowThe Sweater Vest is a long time idea that Spud has been wanting to perfect. Spud Inc was the first innovator of the belt squat belt in the early 2000s making one that was comfortable and long lasting. The belt squat became a main stay in many training regimes over the next two decades and became the Gold Standard of Belt Squats Belts. But with the times always moving ahead, we pioneered then the front squat harness to simulate that exercise for the belt squat machines. The front squat harness taxes the entire abdominals and pretty much the entire front side of the body along with the normal leg development. One of the biggest issues with the belt squat is the digging in on the hips and legs. Spud enjoyed both aspects of the regular belt squat and the qualities of the front squat harness and thought why not make one that is 75% belt squat and 25% front squat harness pressure to get both concepts and teach maintaining abdominal pressure in a more consistent way. Additionally, the Sweater Vest has multiple adjustment loops on the belt squat section and on the vest portion , it has a button push adjustment on each side to dial in varying athlete sizes and heights. Included is a velcro strap that acts like a weight belt near the top of the abs to direct a more stable core and elicit larger support from the abs, obliques and diaphragm breathing. Born was the new Sweater Vest. It took a lot of prototypes to bring it to life but “It’s alive!”
This is the catch-all for the conditioning tools and accessories that don’t fit a single equipment class — weighted vests and plate carriers, medicine and slam balls, plyo boxes, ab mats, and the odds and ends that round out a garage gym. Items land here because their job (loaded carries, jumps, core work) cuts across the categories rather than sitting neatly inside one.
Anyone filling in the gaps around the big pieces. If you already have a rack, bar, and plates, this is where you find the vest for rucking and weighted push-ups, the ball for slams and wall throws, or the box for step-ups and box jumps. Match the tool to the training you actually do — a plate carrier for conditioning and rucking, plyo boxes for explosive work — rather than buying the whole shelf.
