Thresher pad

The Thresher Pad is a spotter-arm-mounted attachment that works as a lat-pulldown seat and as a chest-supported pad for dumbbell rows, reverse flies, preacher curls, and similar movements. It mounts onto a 3”x3” spotter arm with 1” holes – it does not include an arm or bracket, so it requires a compatible spotter arm the buyer already owns (Rogue Monster, REP PR5000/PR4000 1”-hole variant, Titan Fitness, Surplus Strength Stealth Spotters, Black Widow Training, and OakClub Alpha are all confirmed-compatible). Five adjustable angles (0, 15, 30, 45, or 60 degrees) let it double as an angled back pad or a straight upright mount. It’s built from .187” steel with a wrinkle black powder coat finish, a grippy custom seat pad, and a UHMW liner that protects the spotter arm and uprights from contact. At 10 lbs it’s light enough to store on a rack’s top beam or move between exercises while still attached to the spotter arm. Magpins are required to mount it but are not included; Darko recommends 0.98” diameter pins. It’s made in the USA to order, with a typical 3-4 week production time.

What is a Rack Attachment?

What rack attachments are

Rack attachments bolt or pin onto a power rack or squat stand to expand what it can do — J-cups and safety arms/straps (the essentials), plus dip bars, a landmine, a lat pulldown, weight-plate storage, roller J-cups, and more. They turn a rack into a whole gym.

Compatibility comes first

An attachment must match your rack’s upright size (2x2, 2x3, or 3x3) and hole pattern/hardware (e.g. 5/8-in vs 1-in holes, Westside spacing). Attachments are usually series-specific — a Monster Lite J-cup won’t fit an Echo upright — so confirm the fit before buying.

The Thresher Pad turns a spotter arm you already own into a genuinely versatile chest-supported row, reverse-fly, and lat-pulldown seat, and three independent hands-on reviewers single out the same things: a firm, grippy pad, .187” steel construction, and zero wiggle once it’s pinned in place. At $259 it undercuts the Bulldog Pad while adding angle adjustment the flat Stray Dog Lat Pull Down / Low Row Fixed Seat doesn’t offer, and build quality is the clear standout dimension. The weakest spot is functionality-by-omission: it ships with no arm or bracket and no mag pins, so it’s only a fit if you already own a compatible 3”x3”, 1” hole spotter arm.

  • +Functionality: doubles as a lat-pulldown seat and chest-supported row/reverse-fly pad, with reviewers demonstrating rows, preacher curls, incline presses, and lateral raises on it (YouTube: The Underground)
  • +Build quality: .187in steel frame, wrinkle powder coat finish, UHMW liner, and a grippy pad comparable to REP's bench covering -- 'like a tank' once pinned with no wiggle or play (YouTube: Chip Burti; YouTube: The Underground)
  • +Value: at $259 it undercuts the Sorinex Bulldog Pad ($369) while adding angle adjustment the flat Stray Dog Lat Seat lacks (YouTube: Chip Burti)
  • +Versatility: 5 adjustable angles (0-60 degrees) and mountable on a spotter arm or straight on a rack upright as a back pad (Darko Lifting product page; YouTube: Vast Strength)
  • +Durability: held a 260 lb reviewer with no issues, and the firm padding stays stiff rather than sagging (YouTube: Vast Strength; YouTube: Chip Burti)
  • Functionality: doesn't include an arm or bracket -- it only works if you already own a compatible 3x3, 1in-hole spotter arm (Garage Gym Ideas comparison)
  • Value: mag pins aren't included and must be sourced separately, and a straight-end pin can be fiddly to seat compared to a rounded one (YouTube: The Underground)
  • Durability: a newer product, so coverage is limited to initial-use and first-months reports rather than long-term wear data
  • Versatility: only fits 1in-hole 3x3 spotter arms -- no 5/8in ecosystem option yet, per the reviewer who checked compatibility directly with Darko (YouTube: Chip Burti)
