Feed Sack

The Rogue Feed Sack is a simple, fixed-capacity sandbag first introduced at the 2014 CrossFit Games’ Sprint Carry event, built from American-made 1000D Domestic Cordura with triple-stitched seams and reinforced nylon webbing where the two 8” looped handles meet the bag’s corners. A funnel-filler opening allows precise filling with dry play sand, and the zipper’s polyurethane backer and covering keep it flexible, sealed against spillage, and clear of the user’s back during carries. Unlike Rogue’s modular Sandbag 2.0, the Feed Sack ships in two fixed capacities rather than an adjustable fill system, trading versatility for a simpler, sturdier implement suited to squats, thrusters, clean and press, and sprint/shoulder carries.

What is a Sandbag?

What a training sandbag is

A sandbag is a filled, multi-handle bag for odd-object strength and conditioning — cleans, carries, over-shoulder throws, and loaded squats. The shifting fill forces stabilizers to work in a way fixed implements don’t, and the soft load is forgiving to drop. Durability lives in the outer shell (1000D Cordura is the standard) and the handle count/placement; most bags use inner filler bags so one shell covers a range of weights.

The Rogue Feed Sack is a simple, no-frills sandbag: American-made 1000D Cordura construction with reinforced handles and a funnel-filler opening, sold in fixed 50 lb and 100 lb capacities rather than the modular fill system of Rogue’s own Sandbag 2.0. Its standout dimension is durability – the small pool of independent GymRadar reviewers is unanimous, including one report of ten-plus years of hard use without ripping or busting. Its weakest dimension is versatility: the capacity is fixed per bag rather than adjustable, and outside that handful of GymRadar reviews there’s no dedicated editorial review or community thread to lean on.

  • +Functionality: Long looped nylon handles let you swing the bag into a sprint-carry or over-the-head position quickly (Rogue Fitness product page)
  • +Build quality: 1000D Cordura construction with triple-stitched seams and nylon-webbing-reinforced handle corners (Rogue Fitness product page)
  • +Durability: A GymRadar reviewer reports their Feed Sack "has not ripped or busted in over ten years" (GymRadar)
  • +Value: Two sizes run $100 (50 lb) and $105 (100 lb) -- simpler and cheaper than Rogue's modular Sandbag 2.0 (Rogue Fitness product page)
  • +Versatility: Owners run both the 50 lb and 100 lb sizes interchangeably for squats, carries, and back extensions (GymRadar)
  • Versatility: Fixed weight capacity per bag rather than the adjustable fill system on Rogue's Sandbag 2.0 (Rogue Fitness product page)
  • Durability: Independent long-term coverage is limited to a handful of GymRadar reviews -- no dedicated editorial teardown exists (knowledge base)
  • Build quality: The zipper's protective flap is explicitly not a handle -- pulling the loaded bag by it can damage the stitching (Rogue Fitness product page)
