Grandfather Clock Grip System

Rogue’s Grandfather Clock Grip System is a new take on the classic towel grip pull-up: 1.875” diameter steel tube handles with a welded loop, sold as a pair, that deliver a more intense form of bodyweight training than a standard pull-up bar. Their vertical neutral grip position won’t give or allow fingers to dig in for extra leverage, so they’re a serious grip-strength and forearm test, similar to a rope climb. A carabiner-compatible loop lets them attach to almost anything – barbells, dumbbells, kettlebells, plates, sleds, cable stacks, or a pull-up bar – for curls, deadlifts, farmers walks, dead hangs, and pull-ups. The complete system ships with a set of straps and carabiners for mounting to weights or racks; the grips are also sold on their own for gyms that already have compatible straps. Rogue recommends placing protective matting below when using them suspended off the ground.

What is a Cable Attachment?

What cable attachments are

Cable attachments are the handles and bars that clip to a cable machine, functional trainer, or lat/row station to change the exercise — lat bars, triceps ropes, single-D handles, row/close-grip handles, ankle straps, and more. A small set of them turns one cable stack into dozens of movements.

What to look for

A rotating swivel or ball-bearing joint keeps the cable from twisting and lets the handle track your arm; comfortable, durable grips (knurled metal, rubber, or coated nylon) survive heavy use; and a standard carabiner or snap fits most machines. Match the attachment to the exercises you actually train rather than buying a giant kit you won’t use.

Both independent video reviews found treat the Grandfather Clock Grip as one of the most versatile grip-training accessories Rogue sells – a training-facility owner uses it across curls, deadlifts, farmers walks, dead hangs, pull-ups, and sled work with youth athletes, while a personal trainer relies on it for pain-free tricep and bicep accessory work after past elbow injuries. Its standout dimension is versatility: the carabiner-compatible loop attaches to barbells, dumbbells, kettlebells, pull-up bars, cable stacks, and sleds, so one pair covers grip, farmers-walk, and elbow-friendly accessory training. The weakest dimension is durability – neither video discusses long-term wear, and no scored editorial review (Garage Gym Reviews mirrors the manufacturer description with no verdict or rating) or independent community thread was found to corroborate the manufacturer’s own 4.75/5 on-site rating.

  • +Versatility: attaches via carabiner to barbells, dumbbells, kettlebells, pull-up bars, cable stacks, and sleds for curls, deadlifts, farmers walks, and dead hangs (YouTube: training-facility review)
  • +Functionality: neutral vertical grip position works forearms and grip similarly to a rope climb, without the finger-digging leverage a towel allows (Rogue manufacturer page)
  • +Functionality: wide grip surface accommodates limited hand mobility (e.g. broken fingers that don't close well) for pain-free tricep pushdowns and overhead extensions (YouTube: personal-trainer review)
  • +Value: sold as a complete system (2 grips, 2 straps, 2 carabiners) for $85, described by one reviewer as inexpensive relative to its versatility (Rogue manufacturer page; YouTube: training-facility review)
  • Durability: no long-term wear or build-quality commentary found in either independent video review
  • Functionality: no dedicated scored editorial review exists -- Garage Gym Reviews' page mirrors the manufacturer's own description with no independent verdict, rating, or pros/cons
  • Value: the manufacturer's 4.75/5 on-site rating (n=8) has no independent community thread corroborating it in the sources gathered
