Buy NowThe Intek Armor Series Solid Urethane Olympic Plates are Intek Strength’s urethane-coated Olympic plate: cast iron encased in a molded, hard-shore black urethane shell around a stainless steel center hub, sold individually across seven weights from 2.5 to 100 lb. The 10, 25, 35, 45, and 100 lb sizes add five integrated, ergonomically contoured hand grips. It’s positioned as a commercial-grade, floor- and equipment-safe alternative to painted cast iron – Intek and its dealers describe the urethane shell as resisting cracking, peeling, and floor scuffing better than rubber-coated plates – and it’s backed by a 6-year commercial warranty. It’s sold both individually and in bulk sets (255-1,260 lb) for commercial gyms, training studios, and garage gyms.

Weight plates load your barbell — but “plate” covers two very different tools. Bumper plates are rubber discs around a steel hub, all the same ~450mm diameter, built to be dropped from overhead without damaging your floor or bar; they’re the default for Olympic lifting and CrossFit. Iron/steel plates are denser and thinner per pound, cheaper, and quieter to load, but most aren’t made to be dropped — better for slow, controlled powerlifting-style work.
Every barbell gym needs plates. Most home lifters should start with a bumper set, then add iron, change, or specialty plates as a second purchase once they know what their training is missing.

The Intek Armor Series Solid Urethane Olympic Plates are a cast-iron plate with a molded black urethane shell, a stainless steel center hub, and integrated ergonomic hand grips on the 10-100 lb sizes, sold individually across seven weights (2.5-100 lb). Its standout dimension is value and warranty: prices run from roughly $12.50 up to the mid-hundreds depending on weight, backed by a 6-year commercial warranty that Intek and its dealers both call best-in-class for the category. Its weakest dimension is independent verification – every source in this write-up is the manufacturer’s own page or an authorized dealer repeating the same marketing copy; no editorial outlet, YouTube reviewer, or Reddit thread covering this specific SKU turned up, leaving GymRadar’s thin 4.67/5 (n=3) and a single verified-buyer review as the only independent signal.
