Sorinex’s Landmine Rack Attachment is the original rack-mounted angled-barbell trainer – Bert Sorin designed it in 1999 for hammer-throw training, and it’s credited as the product that started angled-barbell training as a category. It bolts to the side of a compatible rack (Base Camp, XL Series, or Dark Horse, with 3” x 3” tubing and 1” holes) and uses an industry-first 4-Way Hole Design so bars, brackets, and handle add-ons can be secured in any direction – front-to-back or side-to-side – supporting presses, rows, and rotational movements. It’s built from 11 gauge American steel with a black texture powder coat finish, and the swivel joint runs on bronze Oilite bushings for smooth multi-directional movement. It’s hand crafted to order, so buyers should expect a 10-12 week lead time; handle attachments (combat handle, T-handle, Griff handle) are sold separately.

What is a Rack Attachment?

What rack attachments are

Rack attachments bolt or pin onto a power rack or squat stand to expand what it can do — J-cups and safety arms/straps (the essentials), plus dip bars, a landmine, a lat pulldown, weight-plate storage, roller J-cups, and more. They turn a rack into a whole gym.

Compatibility comes first

An attachment must match your rack’s upright size (2x2, 2x3, or 3x3) and hole pattern/hardware (e.g. 5/8-in vs 1-in holes, Westside spacing). Attachments are usually series-specific — a Monster Lite J-cup won’t fit an Echo upright — so confirm the fit before buying.

Sorinex’s rack-mounted Landmine is the original angled-barbell attachment — Bert Sorin designed it in 1999 for hammer-throw training, and the current version keeps that pedigree with an industry-first 4-way hole pattern that lets bars, handles, and add-ons mount front-to-back or side-to-side. Build quality is the standout: 11 gauge American steel, a black texture powder coat, and bronze Oilite bushings on the swivel joint, aimed at commercial-grade longevity. Its weakest dimension is independent verification — coverage beyond Sorinex’s own listing is thin (a Garage Gym Reviews entry with specs but no written verdict, and a stray price mention in a competitor’s buying guide), and at $169 it now sits well above the $95–$135 rack landmines it was being compared against.

  • +Functionality: 4-Way Hole Design lets bars, brackets, and handle add-ons mount in any direction, supporting presses, rows, and rotational movements from one station (sorinex.com)
  • +Build quality: 11-gauge American steel with a black texture powder coat finish, built for commercial-grade durability (sorinex.com)
  • +Build quality: bronze Oilite bushings on the swivel joint for smooth, low-wear multi-directional movement (sorinex.com)
  • +Versatility: integrates directly with Base Camp, XL Series, and Dark Horse racks, and pairs with a range of separately-sold handle attachments (combat, T-handle, Griff) for different exercises (sorinex.com)
  • Value: at $169 it now sits well above the $95–$135 range rack-mounted landmine attachments were priced at in a recent buying-guide comparison (Garage Gym Lab, Kleva Adroit review)
  • Durability: no independent long-term wear data exists yet — durability claims are the manufacturer's own (sorinex.com)
  • Functionality: Garage Gym Reviews lists it in their catalog with specs only, no hands-on verdict, pros, or cons (Garage Gym Reviews)
  • Value: hand-crafted-to-order with a 10-12 week lead time, a real ownership cost beyond price for buyers wanting a fast turnaround (sorinex.com)
