Lat Pulldown & Low Row Rack Attachment - Hydra & Manticore

The Bells of Steel Lat Pulldown & Low Row Rack Attachment mounts to the back of a Hydra or Manticore power rack, turning it into a 2-in-1 cable station for lat pulldowns and seated low rows without a standalone machine’s footprint. It’s built from 11-gauge steel with a trapezoidal rear cross member that routes the cable away from the inside of the rack, aluminum pulleys for smooth cable travel, and a 500 lb cable capacity at a 1:1 pull ratio. Loadable steel weight horns hold up to 10.9” of Olympic plates per side, and the attachment ships with a lat bar, curl bar, non-slip footplate, and padded leg crossbar, with 15+ additional attachments compatible. It adds roughly 24-30” of depth and 4-4.5” of height to an existing rack and is sold in six configurations: plate-loaded or weight-stack, for Hydra or Manticore racks, in 72”, 84”, or 90” heights matching the rack’s upright height. A separate weight-stack version was in development as of the manufacturer’s initial product announcement and has since shipped as its own SKU.

What is a Rack Attachment?

What rack attachments are

Rack attachments bolt or pin onto a power rack or squat stand to expand what it can do — J-cups and safety arms/straps (the essentials), plus dip bars, a landmine, a lat pulldown, weight-plate storage, roller J-cups, and more. They turn a rack into a whole gym.

Compatibility comes first

An attachment must match your rack’s upright size (2x2, 2x3, or 3x3) and hole pattern/hardware (e.g. 5/8-in vs 1-in holes, Westside spacing). Attachments are usually series-specific — a Monster Lite J-cup won’t fit an Echo upright — so confirm the fit before buying.

The Bells of Steel Lat Pulldown & Low Row Rack Attachment turns a Hydra or Manticore rack into a 2-in-1 cable station, adding lat pulldowns and seated rows for as little as 30” of extra depth. Versatility is the standout: it mounts to the back of an existing rack rather than taking up new floor space, runs dual cables for curls, pushdowns, face pulls, and shoulder raises, and accepts 15+ compatible attachments beyond the included lat and curl bars. The weakest dimension is independent verification – the only third-party commentary comes from a Garage Gym Reviews section inside their Hydra rack review (not a dedicated test of the attachment), the low row foot plate isn’t adjustable, and its 1:1 cable ratio trails 2:1 systems like the Rep Fitness Ares 2 for smoothness under heavier loads (comparable to 2:1 systems like the REP Fitness Ares Functional Trainer).

  • +Versatility: 2-in-1 lat pulldown and low row on one attachment, plus 15+ compatible attachments including the included lat bar and curl bar (Bells of Steel product page)
  • +Functionality: compact mount adds only 30" of depth and 4.5" of height to an existing rack rather than requiring a standalone footprint (Garage Gym Reviews)
  • +Build quality: 11-gauge steel construction with aluminum pulleys for smooth, quiet cable travel rather than nylon (Bells of Steel manufacturer blog)
  • +Value: plate-loaded configuration starts around $700, well under freestanding lat pulldown/low row machines that run $1,500-2,000 (Bells of Steel, Xrival Fitness)
  • Functionality: the low row foot plate is not adjustable, which reviewers say "can be a little in the way at times" (Garage Gym Reviews)
  • Functionality: 1:1 cable pull ratio makes the movement less smooth than 2:1 systems on higher-end cable machines (aggregated review commentary)
  • Durability: no dedicated independent long-term test exists -- the only third-party coverage is a brief section inside a Hydra rack review, not a standalone review of the attachment
  • Value: the manufacturer's own on-site rating (4.6/5, 38 reviews) is unverifiable against independent sources; GymRadar's rating for this exact product is lower (3.67/5) though also thin at only 3 reviews
