Buy NowTitan Fitness’s 5 LB Set Color Fractional Plates is a set of 8 rubber-coated steel plates – pairs of 0.25 lb (green), 0.5 lb (yellow), 0.75 lb (blue), and 1 lb (red) – that combine to add exactly 5 lb total across a barbell. They exist to close the gap standard 2.5 lb+ plates leave: once a lifter plateaus on a lift, these let them add as little as a half pound per side to keep progressing rather than jumping straight to the next full increment. Each plate has a matte, color-coded finish for quick identification mid-workout and a raised lip for easier handling, and Titan rates the set to within 20 grams of its stated weight.

Weight plates load your barbell — but “plate” covers two very different tools. Bumper plates are rubber discs around a steel hub, all the same ~450mm diameter, built to be dropped from overhead without damaging your floor or bar; they’re the default for Olympic lifting and CrossFit. Iron/steel plates are denser and thinner per pound, cheaper, and quieter to load, but most aren’t made to be dropped — better for slow, controlled powerlifting-style work.
Every barbell gym needs plates. Most home lifters should start with a bumper set, then add iron, change, or specialty plates as a second purchase once they know what their training is missing.

Titan’s 5 LB Color Fractional Plate set is a small, inexpensive accessory that reviewers and owners agree does exactly what it promises: precise 0.25-1 lb increments for pushing past plateaus once standard plates jump by 2.5 lb or more. Its standout dimension is value – both YouTube reviewers and multiple r/homegym owners call out that it undercuts Rogue’s equivalent fractional set by roughly two-thirds while still fitting snugly (not too tight, not too loose) across a range of bars and machines, with weights measuring close to their stated values. Its weakest dimension is build quality: the 0.25 lb plate has no metal core at all (just rubber, distinguishing it from the rest of the set), and coverage of this exact SKU is thin – no dedicated editorial review exists, so the verdict leans more heavily on video and community reports than on a lab-style teardown.
