Ankle Cuff Cable Attachment

Rogue’s Ankle Cuff Cable Attachment is a pair of padded ankle cuffs for cable machines and functional trainers, co-developed with bodybuilding champion Tim Martin. The patent-pending design uses the same 0.125” thick foam frame construction as Rogue’s USA Nylon Weightlifting Belts, wrapped in a Cordura exterior with an antimicrobial interior. A 1.5” nylon webbing strap with a hook-and-loop closure adjusts each cuff from 9” to 14” in circumference, and an included stirrup positioned about 4.5” below the cuff keeps it from riding up or slipping off mid-set. Four welded D-ring attachment points (front, back, and both sides) let lifters switch exercise angles – hamstring curls, leg extensions, cable hip abductions, kickbacks, and lunges – without re-adjusting the cuff. It’s compatible with a wide range of cable setups, including Rogue’s Rhino, Lat Pulldown, CT-1 Cable Tower, and Slinger with Solo Pulley Attachment. At $68 for the pair, it costs roughly three times a typical $20 ankle strap, positioning it as a premium rather than budget pick.

What is a Cable Attachment?

What cable attachments are

Cable attachments are the handles and bars that clip to a cable machine, functional trainer, or lat/row station to change the exercise — lat bars, triceps ropes, single-D handles, row/close-grip handles, ankle straps, and more. A small set of them turns one cable stack into dozens of movements.

What to look for

A rotating swivel or ball-bearing joint keeps the cable from twisting and lets the handle track your arm; comfortable, durable grips (knurled metal, rubber, or coated nylon) survive heavy use; and a standard carabiner or snap fits most machines. Match the attachment to the exercises you actually train rather than buying a giant kit you won’t use.

Rogue’s Ankle Cuff Cable Attachment earns its premium positioning – BarBend names it their Best Premium Ankle Straps pick, and independent GymRadar owners rate it 4.93/5 across 5 reviews, consistently praising the build quality and the four D-ring attachment points that let lifters hit hamstrings, glutes, and hips from multiple angles without re-adjusting. Its standout dimension is versatility: reviewers specifically call out how the multi-angle D-rings make supersetting and adductor/abductor work far less awkward than a single-anchor strap. The weakest dimension is value – at $68 for the pair, both BarBend and a GymRadar reviewer flag it as notably pricier than the ~$20 ankle straps it’s most often compared against, even though reviewers agree the quality justifies it.

  • +Versatility: four welded D-ring attachment points (front, back, sides) let lifters change exercise angle without re-adjusting the cuff -- "makes supersetting easier and adductor/abductor exercises much less awkward" (GymRadar: Andy Wang)
  • +Build quality: Cordura exterior over a 0.125" foam frame with reinforced stitching feels noticeably nicer than typical budget ankle cuffs (GymRadar: Andy Wang; BarBend)
  • +Functionality: the included stirrup secures across the heel, spreading load across the foot better than standard cuffs and preventing slipping under tension (GymRadar: Kevmeister; BarBend)
  • +Functionality: stays secure with "no give under tension" across raises, curls, and extensions (GymRadar: JGratty)
  • +Build quality: multiple independent reviewers report it holding up fully secure and comfortable with no complaints after regular use (GymRadar: Robo, The Barbell Bunker)
  • Value: at $68/pair, roughly three times the price of typical $20 ankle straps -- "a little pricey for what they are" even though the quality is there (BarBend; GymRadar: Kevmeister)
  • Functionality: the 9-14" adjustable range runs large -- one reviewer at 5'6" found it fits well only when tightened all the way, and BarBend notes excess strap fabric can remain for smaller ankles (GymRadar: Andy Wang; BarBend)
  • Durability: no independent long-term (multi-year) durability reports yet beyond the manufacturer's own customer-review claims -- GymRadar's coverage is a small, recent sample (5 reviews)
