D-Grips are Darko Lifting’s fat-grip attachment for its Longy Bar and Shorty Bar systems, turning either bar into a 2” fat-grip handle for lat pulldowns, overhead triceps extensions, and pushdowns. They’re molded from thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) with a textured surface for grip security, and slide onto the bar where internal nubs lock into the bar’s selector holes – no tools required. Sold as a pair, they’re not a standalone product: D-Grips only fit Darko’s own Longy and Shorty bars, so they’re an add-on purchase for owners of that ecosystem rather than a universal cable attachment.

What is a Cable Attachment?

What cable attachments are

Cable attachments are the handles and bars that clip to a cable machine, functional trainer, or lat/row station to change the exercise — lat bars, triceps ropes, single-D handles, row/close-grip handles, ankle straps, and more. A small set of them turns one cable stack into dozens of movements.

What to look for

A rotating swivel or ball-bearing joint keeps the cable from twisting and lets the handle track your arm; comfortable, durable grips (knurled metal, rubber, or coated nylon) survive heavy use; and a standard carabiner or snap fits most machines. Match the attachment to the exercises you actually train rather than buying a giant kit you won’t use.

D-Grips turn Darko Lifting’s Longy Bar and Shorty Bar into 2” fat-grip handles for pulldowns, pushdowns, and overhead extensions, and the small pool of owner reviews is consistently positive on functionality and build quality – the TPU knurl “holds up to heavy pulls” and the grips “lock in place and stay put” even under repeated pulldown work. Value is the softest dimension: reviewers rate it slightly lower than performance or build quality, likely reflecting that this is a $50 add-on that only works with Darko’s own bars rather than a universal attachment. Durability looks good over the short term reviewers describe, but coverage is thin – just three GymRadar reviews and no independent editorial or video review exists yet, so long-term wear is largely unverified.

  • +Functionality: turns the Longy or Shorty bar into a 2" fat-grip handle for lat pulldowns, pushdowns, and overhead triceps extensions, adding narrow-to-medium grip variety (GymRadar review)
  • +Build quality: TPU knurl provides secure grip "without slipping," and internal nubs lock the grips into the bar's selector holes so they "stay put" during use (Darko Lifting product page, GymRadar review)
  • +Durability: one owner reports the grips "hold up to heavy pulls and pulldowns" with no need to remove them from the bar (GymRadar review)
  • +Versatility: doubles as a grip-strength tool beyond its primary pulldown/pushdown use (GymRadar review)
  • Value: GymRadar's Value sub-score (4.67/5) trails its Performance and Build Quality scores (5.00/5 each), and the $50 pair only works with Darko's own Longy/Shorty bars, not as a universal attachment
  • Build quality: one reviewer found the grips "a little tight to get on," expecting them to loosen with use rather than fitting easily out of the box (GymRadar review)
  • Durability: long-term wear is unverified beyond a handful of owner accounts -- only 3 GymRadar reviews exist and no independent editorial or video review of D-Grips specifically was found
  • Versatility: locked to Darko's proprietary bar ecosystem, so it's only useful to existing Longy/Shorty bar owners, not a standalone cable attachment
