Buy NowThe Eleiko PF Powerlifting Competition Plate is Eleiko’s calibrated cast-iron competition plate, certified by the IPF and WPPO and used at major powerlifting championships worldwide. Sold individually across nine weights from 0.25 kg up to 25 kg (the lightest three change plates are chromed, 2.5 kg is black, 5 kg is white, and the main plates follow standard IPF color coding – 10 kg green, 15 kg yellow, 20 kg blue, 25 kg red), the plates are guaranteed within +/-0.25% of stated weight (+/-10 g for 2.5 kg and below), with independent owners reporting actual tolerances beating that spec. A redesign added a chamfered edge, an ergonomic finger groove on the backside, and a larger hub for a snugger collar fit, aimed at reducing powder-coat wear and improving handling when loading and unloading.
It’s specialist competition gear rather than a general home-gym plate – GymRadar owners rate it 4.55/5 and consistently describe it as the nicest calibrated plate they’ve used, prized for calibration accuracy and looks. The tradeoffs mirror that positioning: the powder coat is widely reported to chip and scratch with heavy competition-style use (treated by owners as expected cosmetic wear, not a defect), and the snug bore fit that keeps plates secure on the bar also has a reputation for being slower to load. Eleiko sells direct only by quote, so pricing runs through authorized retailers.

Weight plates load your barbell — but “plate” covers two very different tools. Bumper plates are rubber discs around a steel hub, all the same ~450mm diameter, built to be dropped from overhead without damaging your floor or bar; they’re the default for Olympic lifting and CrossFit. Iron/steel plates are denser and thinner per pound, cheaper, and quieter to load, but most aren’t made to be dropped — better for slow, controlled powerlifting-style work.
Every barbell gym needs plates. Most home lifters should start with a bumper set, then add iron, change, or specialty plates as a second purchase once they know what their training is missing.

Eleiko’s PF Powerlifting Competition Plate is a specialist competition tool, and reviewers consistently praise its build quality and functionality above general home-gym plates: precision-calibrated tolerances that owners measure beating Eleiko’s own +/-0.25% (+/-10g) spec, and a thin cast-iron profile built to stack 700kg+ loads onto a bar. GymRadar owners rate it 4.55/5 and single out its looks and calibration accuracy as standout traits. The weakest dimension is value: it’s a premium, quote-priced line sold individually per weight rather than a value pick, and the powder-coat finish is widely reported to chip and scratch under heavy competition-style use (treated by owners as expected cosmetic wear, not a defect).
