The Midas EZ Curl Bar is Fringe Sport’s premium, rackable curl bar, finished in matte black Cerakote with gold-chrome titanium collars and “signed” endcaps. Unlike most EZ curl bars – which have to be lifted off the rack entirely to swap plates – it’s built to be rackable, so loading and unloading is as convenient as with a straight barbell. Five distinct hand-placement angles along the cambered shaft let lifters target different parts of the bicep (and reduce wrist/elbow strain on skullcrushers and other bent-grip accessory work) without switching bars. It’s rated to 1,000 lb and backed by Fringe Sport’s lifetime warranty.

What is a Barbell?

What a barbell is

The barbell is the center of a strength gym — the bar you squat, press, deadlift, and clean with. A men’s Olympic bar is 20 kg (44 lb) and 7.2 ft long (15 kg / 6.5 ft for women). The specs that matter: knurl (the grip texture — aggressive for pulls, milder for high-rep work), shaft diameter (28–29 mm for barbell lifts), sleeve rotation (bushings are fine for slow lifts; bearings spin fast for the Olympic lifts), tensile strength (~190k+ PSI resists bending), and coating (bare steel grips best but rusts; stainless and Cerakote trade grip for corrosion resistance).

Which one to buy

For general lifting, a multipurpose bar (28–28.5mm shaft, dual knurl marks, no center knurl) does squats, bench, deadlifts, and the occasional clean off one bar — this is the right first barbell for most home gyms. Choose a dedicated power bar (29mm, stiffer, aggressive center-knurl grip) only once you know you’re training squat/bench/deadlift specifically and want the stiffest, grippiest tool for that job. A dedicated Olympic weightlifting bar (needle bearings, more whip) is worth it only if you clean, snatch, or jerk regularly.

Beyond your main bar, specialty bars solve specific problems rather than replacing it: a safety squat bar shifts load off sore shoulders, a trap/hex bar takes stress off a cranky lower back on pulls, and a curl bar’s camber reduces wrist strain on isolation work. Add them once you know which problem you actually have.

The Midas EZ Curl Bar is Fringe Sport’s premium, rackable take on a curl bar – a Cerakote-finished shaft with gold-chrome collars and five grip angles aimed at bicep isolation. Versatility is the standout dimension: the multiple ergonomic grip positions and 1,000 lb rated capacity give lifters real flexibility for curls, skullcrushers, and other bent-grip accessory work, and being rackable (unlike many curl bars) makes loading and unloading plates far more convenient. Coverage is the weakest dimension – no independent editorial or video reviewer has tested this specific bar; the signal available is GymRadar’s owner-rated aggregate (4.63/5 across 10 reviews, with Value the highest-rated sub-score at 4.80/5) and Fringe Sport’s own on-site rating (4.56/5, 48 reviews), both of which should be read as owner sentiment rather than neutral third-party testing.

  • +Versatility: five distinct hand-placement positions let lifters target different parts of the bicep in one bar (manufacturer)
  • +Functionality: rackable design means plates can be loaded/unloaded without pulling the bar off the rack, unlike most curl bars (manufacturer)
  • +Value: GymRadar owners rate Value the highest of its four sub-scores at 4.80/5 (GymRadar, n=10)
  • +Build quality: matte black Cerakote shaft with gold-chrome titanium collars and a 1,000 lb rated capacity (manufacturer)
  • +Build quality: GymRadar owners rate Build Quality 4.60/5 (GymRadar, n=10)
  • Functionality: no independent editorial or video review of this specific bar was found -- available YouTube "Midas" reviews cover Fringe Sport's unrelated Revenge straight/trap bar line, not this curl bar
  • Durability: little independent long-term durability data; a review of Fringe Sport's other (non-Midas) curl bar to note as context reported black-zinc-finish corrosion concerns on that different bar, not this one
  • Functionality: GymRadar's lowest sub-score is Performance at 4.50/5, just behind Build Quality and Value (GymRadar, n=10)
  • Value: at $199 it costs more than Fringe Sport's own standard (non-rackable) curl bar, and rating signal is limited to owner-review aggregates rather than expert testing (manufacturer; GymRadar)
