Buy NowLe Master Barbell’s Deep Dish Barbell Plates revive the classic 1970s-80s vintage plate look: a recessed center that leaves a wide outer lip, cast by hand from 90%+ recycled steel and finished in a matte black powder coat with a distinctive 3D bodybuilder emblem. Unlike most modern deep dish lines that taper off at the mid weights, Le Master carries the true deep dish profile all the way down to the 2.5 lb change plates. Plates are machined to a tight +/-2% weight tolerance and produced at a carbon-neutral foundry in Northern California. The recessed center gives a wider grip surface for loading and unloading, and the extra plate width reduces side-to-side wobble on the bar, but the lineup skips a 35 lb size and gets notably pricier per pound at the low end of the weight range.

Weight plates load your barbell — but “plate” covers two very different tools. Bumper plates are rubber discs around a steel hub, all the same ~450mm diameter, built to be dropped from overhead without damaging your floor or bar; they’re the default for Olympic lifting and CrossFit. Iron/steel plates are denser and thinner per pound, cheaper, and quieter to load, but most aren’t made to be dropped — better for slow, controlled powerlifting-style work.
Every barbell gym needs plates. Most home lifters should start with a bumper set, then add iron, change, or specialty plates as a second purchase once they know what their training is missing.

Le Master’s deep dish plates land as an accurate, well-finished vintage-style plate that both independent reviewers and owners rate highly on build: GymRadar’s owners average 4.72/5 with build quality the standout at 4.83/5, and ShreddedDad’s review clocks weight accuracy and finish at 4.6/5 apiece. Two YouTube owners who also own Rogue’s deep dish plates call the quality comparable at a similar price point. The weakest spot is value at the extremes of the lineup – GymRadar owners rate value lowest of its three sub-dimensions (4.33/5), per-pound pricing gets steep on the small change plates, and one owner noted the paint reads as less durable than other deep dish plates in side-by-side use.
