Monster Lite Matador

The Monster Lite Matador turns a Rogue 3x3 rig into a dip station. It is a 3x3 7-gauge steel attachment with angled, comfort-grip handles that give you a range of grip widths, and it uses the Monster Lite anchoring system to lock onto uprights (mounting bolts sold separately). At $110 it is the affordable version of the standard Monster Matador.

Buy it if you already run a Monster Lite rack and want dips without floor space. If you are outfitting cups and safeties too, look at the Flat Sandwich J-Cups and Spotter Arms; for a pull-up upgrade there is the Jammer Pull-up Bar.

What is a Rack Attachment?

What rack attachments are

Rack attachments bolt or pin onto a power rack or squat stand to expand what it can do — J-cups and safety arms/straps (the essentials), plus dip bars, a landmine, a lat pulldown, weight-plate storage, roller J-cups, and more. They turn a rack into a whole gym.

Compatibility comes first

An attachment must match your rack’s upright size (2x2, 2x3, or 3x3) and hole pattern/hardware (e.g. 5/8-in vs 1-in holes, Westside spacing). Attachments are usually series-specific — a Monster Lite J-cup won’t fit an Echo upright — so confirm the fit before buying.

The Matador remains the default rack-mounted dip station for Monster Lite owners: heavy 7-gauge steel, USA welds, and a lock-in anchoring system that most reviewers call rock solid. Build quality is the standout — testers describe it as “built like a tank” — but functionality is where opinions split, since the fixed handle angle and diameter feel awkward to some lifters’ shoulders and wrists, and several owners report noticeable wobble under load. Bare steel-on-steel contact with the rack also means it’ll scuff your rig’s finish over time without added padding.

  • +Build quality: 7-gauge steel construction, solid USA welds, "built like a tank" (Hai Hoang Tran)
  • +Functionality: angled, comfort-grip handles reduce shoulder stress vs. straight parallel bars (BOXROX)
  • +Versatility: supports dips, static holds, knee raises, and weighted/tempo work via dip belt (BOXROX)
  • +Value: mounts directly to an existing Monster Lite rack, no standalone floor footprint needed (haihoangtran.com)
  • Durability: bare metal-on-metal contact with the rack causes scratching, no UHMW protection included (garagegymproducts.com, haihoangtran.com)
  • Functionality: fixed handle angle and 1 7/8" diameter feel uncomfortable on shoulders/wrists for some lifters, with noticeable wobble under load (YouTube: Natural Hypertrophy)
  • Build quality: factory powder-coat/paint reported to chip over time even without impact (YouTube: Natural Hypertrophy, haihoangtran.com)
  • Versatility: oblong shape takes real floor space when unmounted for storage (r/homegym)
