Spotter Arms

REP’s Spotter Arms are the safety catch for a 4000- or 5000-Series power rack: 24” arms with a 3mm main tube, a 2mm support tube, and a 5mm gusset, rated to a 1,000 lb rackable capacity and lined with molded polyurethane so a dropped bar never touches bare steel. Sold in pairs, they turn a rack into a safe solo-lifting station. If you run a Rogue Monster Lite rack instead, the SAML-24 safety spotter arms are the direct equivalent; a Matador or Jammer pull-up bar add different training surfaces to the same uprights.

What is a Rack Attachment?

What rack attachments are

Rack attachments bolt or pin onto a power rack or squat stand to expand what it can do — J-cups and safety arms/straps (the essentials), plus dip bars, a landmine, a lat pulldown, weight-plate storage, roller J-cups, and more. They turn a rack into a whole gym.

Compatibility comes first

An attachment must match your rack’s upright size (2x2, 2x3, or 3x3) and hole pattern/hardware (e.g. 5/8-in vs 1-in holes, Westside spacing). Attachments are usually series-specific — a Monster Lite J-cup won’t fit an Echo upright — so confirm the fit before buying.

That matches the recurring "no pin hole, arm can rotate" complaint already convergent across the GymRadar reviewers.
Reddit 4.0/5 3 reviews r/homegym mentions (via pullpush) are thin passing references rather than dedicated threads: a highly-upvoted "best purchase I've ever made" gear-list post that includes the spotter arms, a comment describing them as a comfortable alternate bar-loading position, and a comment noting intermittent stock-outs (a demand signal). No complaints about the arms surface in this sample.

REP’s Spotter Arms are a proven, heavily-owned safety pick — #2 Most Owned Safeties on GymRadar with a strong 4.48/5 across 16 reviews — built from genuinely heavy-duty steel that reviewers say can “handle anything thrown at them.” Build quality and value are the strengths, but functionality is where the pattern breaks down: three independent reviewers flag the same design quirk, that the mounting pin sits inline with the arm rather than off to the side, letting the arm rotate over time with no hole for a locking mag-pin. Some owners have turned that quirk into a feature — repurposing the arms as a DIY leg roller or preacher-curl anchor — but if you want a rock-solid, non-rotating catch out of the box, compare against pinned designs like the SAML-24.

  • +Build quality: heavy-duty steel construction — 3mm main tube, 2mm support tube, 5mm gusset — earns the highest GymRadar sub-score at 4.69/5 (REP Fitness; GymRadar)
  • +Durability: reviewers describe it as able to "handle anything thrown at them," including one owner still relying on the arms years into ownership after adding a smith machine attachment (GymRadar: Big Thomas B)
  • +Value: $159.99 for a 1,000 lb rackable pair, with GymRadar's Value sub-score at 4.50/5 across 16 reviews (REP Fitness; GymRadar)
  • +Versatility: multiple owners repurpose the arms as a DIY leg roller, preacher-curl anchor, or leg-press platform, and they fit non-REP racks like Iron Bull Strength with matching tube dimensions (GymRadar: Andy Wang; r/homegym)
  • Functionality: the mounting pin sits inline with the arm rather than off to the side, so the arm can rotate in place over time — three independent reviewers flag the lack of a magpin/hitch-pin hole to lock it down (GymRadar: Adam Wathan, Big {little} Randy, Big Mark)
  • Build quality: UHMW liner coverage is incomplete in places the bar contacts, and one reviewer called the plastic "cheap textured" compared to competitors like Rogue (GymRadar: Adam Wathan)
  • Versatility: the design didn't fit one owner's PRx wall-mount storage, forcing a switch to a competing brand (GymRadar: Scottsdale Garage Gym)
  • Functionality: heavy and space-consuming on the upright, a repeated complaint alongside the rotation issue (GymRadar: Big Mark)
