Monster Safety Spotter Arms 2.0

Rogue’s redesigned Monster Safety Spotter Arms 2.0 are a pair of solo-lifter safety catches built exclusively for Rogue’s Monster Series racks and rigs. Each arm is 3x3” 11-gauge steel with a 0.375” thick laser clasp and an extended 0.1875” laser-cut steel gusset for added resistance to bending under a heavy drop, and the pair is drop-tested to withstand up to 800 lb. A new “Face Saver” UHMW piece sits flush against the upright and angles downward, designed to push a dropped barbell away from the lifter’s face during a failed bench press rather than straight down onto it. UHMW plastic liners along the catch protect both the barbell and the steel from repeated drops, and each arm locks into the rack with a numbered, etched 1” detent pin.

Owner feedback is consistently positive on build: reviewers single out the weld quality and steel thickness as “top notch,” and the arms mount cleanly on Monster-compatible racks either outside the uprights or inside as a flip-down safety. The one recurring critique, raised in a head-to-head comparison against Surplus Strength’s slimmer Stealth spotter arms, is size rather than strength: at roughly 54 lb for the pair and needing 7-8 holes of vertical rack space (versus 4 for the Stealth), they’re bulky to reposition, can interfere with cable trolleys on a rack with a functional-trainer attachment, and their footprint sometimes tempts owners to skip reinstalling them before a solo bench session — a real workflow tradeoff for equipment that’s otherwise built to take a serious hit.
