Buy NowREP Sport Plates are some of the most durable bumper plates on the market, made with strong, steel center inserts and high-quality rubber. The Sport Plates have a low bounce and up to a 10% lower decibel output than standard bumper plates when dropped from overhead, which means they quiet and won’t annoy your neighbors when you drop them. The plates are easy to handle, thanks to their unique, textured, rubber outer edges and side cutouts. The black rubber is accented with raised, colored lettering and colored lines and accent marks. Sport Plates are color-coded per the IWF (plus the 15lb plates are orange) so it’s easy to determine how much weight is on the bar. Bumper plates are ideal for Olympic weightlifting, cross-training, and HIIT-style workouts, where it’s common to drop the barbell from overhead or shoulder height, although you can also use bumpers for powerlifting. The Sport Plates fit all Olympic, 2” barbells and have a 3% weight tolerance.

Bumper plates are rubber discs around a steel hub, all the same ~450mm diameter, built to be dropped from overhead without damaging your floor or bar; they’re the default for Olympic lifting and CrossFit. Iron/steel plates are denser and thinner per pound, cheaper, and quieter to load, but most aren’t made to be dropped — better for slow, controlled powerlifting-style work.
Every barbell gym needs plates. Most home lifters should start with a bumper set, then add iron, change, or specialty plates as a second purchase once they know what their training is missing.
