Bells of Steel’s Spotter Arms are a pair of rack-mounted safety catches for bench press and squat, sold in three versions matched to rack generation – 60mm (fits 2.3” x 2.3” uprights, 5/8” holes, 800 lb capacity), Hydra (true 3” x 3” uprights, 5/8” holes, 1,000 lb capacity), and Manticore (true 3” x 3” uprights, 1” holes, 1,000 lb capacity) – and compatible with non-Bells of Steel racks that share the matching upright and hole spec. Each arm is lined with UHMW on both the front and back, so a caught bar never contacts bare metal, and magnetic hitch pins with linchpins lock the arms in place. An independent reviewer (Canadian Steve’s Underground Gym) rated them ahead of both Rogue’s and REP’s equivalents on this same double-sided UHMW lining and the magnetic-pin anchor point, and the manufacturer’s own 810 lb / 2.5 ft drop test showed the arms holding a barbell secure through a catastrophic failed rep, though the arms and bar themselves bent and needed replacing after that one extreme hit. Beyond squat/bench safety, they double as a secondary station for incline presses or other lifts done outside the rack. The one tradeoff worth knowing: at roughly 12” of clearance they take up about twice the space of slimmer competitors like Stealth’s spotter arms.

Rack attachments bolt or pin onto a power rack or squat stand to expand what it can do — J-cups and safety arms/straps (the essentials), plus dip bars, a landmine, a lat pulldown, weight-plate storage, roller J-cups, and more. They turn a rack into a whole gym.
An attachment must match your rack’s upright size (2x2, 2x3, or 3x3) and hole pattern/hardware (e.g. 5/8-in vs 1-in holes, Westside spacing). Attachments are usually series-specific — a Monster Lite J-cup won’t fit an Echo upright — so confirm the fit before buying.

Bells of Steel’s spotter arms are a straightforward, well-executed safety attachment: a pair of UHMW-lined arms that catch a failed bench or squat rep and double as a secondary station for incline presses and other lifts outside the rack. Build quality is the standout — UHMW lines both the front and back of each arm (no metal-on-metal contact with the bar), and magnetic hitch pins lock them securely in place, details an independent reviewer called out as beating both Rogue’s and REP’s equivalents. Durability held up under an extreme 810 lb / 2.5 ft drop test: the arms stayed secured and kept the barbell (and a phone) safe, though the bent arms and barbell from that single test show the hardware isn’t meant to absorb a catastrophic load twice. The weakest dimension is versatility of footprint — at roughly 12” of clearance they take up about twice the space of slimmer competitors like Stealth’s spotters, worth knowing if rack space is tight.
